Earlier this month we welcomed Daniell Barnard, Michael Southey, Josh Platt and Guy Goddard, the founders of EightyOne Agency to our professional marketing team.
EightyOne, a digital performance based media company based in South Africa will bring a new movement to the NGS brand and close the disconnect between strategy and execution.
This is a positive move for NGS, as we broaden our investment horizons into South Africa.
Meet The Team
Michael received his BA in Creative Brand Communications specialising in Copywriting from Vega.
After graduating he went on to work with BBDO, Saatchi & Saatchi and 99C. With big agency experience under his belt he decided it was time for a new venture, thus EightyOne was born.
It was with EightyOne that he developed a passion and an eye for digital performance media.
Today he works closely with his partners helping a variety of brands achieve and surpass their business goals with through strategically lead digital communications.
After completing his degree at Vega, Josh joined 140 BBDO and went straight into their strategy department. Here he gained some great experience working on global brands such as Hunter’s, Johnson n Johnson, Dunkin Donuts and more.
Two years flew past, and eventually Josh was approached by Just Design to head up their strategy. Here he tackled new business developments for the agency as well as worked on brands such as B.A.T. and Distell’s suite of products.
After a short but sweet spell at Just Design he started to work for himself in Cape Town, applying his trade as a strategy consultant. After consulting for 18 months, Josh and business partner Guy Goddard identified an opportunity in the market and a gap in the services brands were receiving -truly strategically driven digital performance media.
Things moved fast after this, Guy and Josh teamed up with Mike Southey and Daniell Barnard, creating EightyOne – a strategically driven digital performance media agency.
Daniell acquired his BBA in Brand Building and Management at Vega.
After completing his studies he interned at FCB in their Strategy Department working on brands such as Engen, Richelieu and Exact Clothing. Following this Daniell moved abroad for two and half years, during this time he free-lanced in Social Media Management and focused on Brand and Business Development for local brands.
Daniell has developed a passion for Business Management as well as start-ups and has been involved in an array of entrepreneurial ventures.
Daniell was approached by Josh, Guy and Mike to start EightyOne and has since been conducting the role of Account Director.
Guy Goddard received his BBA at Vega Cape Town; thereafter he consulted as a strategist for multiple start-ups.
He then moved into Soda, a digital marketing agency, where he worked as the lead digital strategist with a focus on campaign strategy. Working on brands such as Spur, Tomy Takkie, and O&M.
Moving into freelance strategic consulting for a year and a half before teaming up with Michael, Joshua, and Daniell to form EightyOne Agency as you know it today.
The NGS team is very excited about working with EightyOne Agency and the positive aspects that they will bring to the marketing team.
This professional move has come at a great time for NGS Crypto as we move into the investment arena of South Africa, whilst still focusing strongly on the Australian investment market.
