Jaguar Land Rover, the British multinational automotive company is teaming up with the cryptocurrency IOTA Foundation to begin testing a smart wallet technology that will give motorists the ability to earn crypto while driving.
Drivers will be able to earn crypto rewards in exchange for sharing data surrounding “useful road conditions, such as traffic congestion or potholes”.
The crypto credits you earn from sending on such data to “navigation providers or local authorities” can then be used to pay for tolls, parking meters or plugging into the nearest electrical charging station, to keep the list brief.
The new software is currently being tested on the new Jaguar F-PACE and Range Rover Velar in Shannon, Ireland.
A release date is yet to be announced however, we can expect that Elon Musk is keeping a very close eye on the new technology.
